VIOLIN INSTRUCTION

  • My name is Rebekah Carlson; I am a violinist and music teacher, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself! My family just relocated from Chapel Hill to High Point this summer (2012), and I host a violin studio at my home, which is in north High Point. I have a degree in violin performance from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music (IL), and I’ve played in several professional music ensembles, including the North Carolina Opera, the Carolina Ballet, the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, the Durham Choral Society, the Duke Chapel Choir, and the NC Master Chorale. I had a violin studio of 50 students in Chapel Hill, where I lived for the last eight years and founded the Chapel Hill String Ensemble, a performing group comprised of my advanced private students. We had the privilege of performing both regionally and internationally, with recent tours to Austria, Germany, and Italy. My students consistently played in the NC All State orchestras and were involved in several local ensembles, including the Piedmont Youth Orchestra and the Mallarme Orchestra. I am also a registered Music Together teacher and greatly enjoy teaching general music classes to children from birth to five years.

I am hoping to connect with young students in the area. My website:  http://www.carlsonsuzukistudio.com/ .

I am also an active freelance performer as a soloist and ensemble member on violin and viola. It is my great pleasure to bring my experience and love of music to the community Please visit my website for more information.

"In musical circles, he's known as the Groove. This master drummer lays down a rock solid rhythm that is the glue that holds it all together. Originally from Mobile, Alabama, he spent many years playing on cruise ships, backing natioanlly known talent as he circled the globe. When you hear Mike play you will immediately notice his strong jazz influences. The only thing that is better than his playing, is his amazing sense of humor!"
